Research on CFBG Hydrophone for Vocalization Sensing of Oreochromis Mossambicus During Feeding

Abstract:

Underwater detection of acoustic pressure field in measuring vocalization of aquatic fauna, monitoring of seabed mining sites, etc., is a hot topic in fields such as aquaculture, mechanics of deep-sea fishing or aquaculture boats, deep sea mining, etc. By rigidly placing a chirped Bragg grating fiber in an aluminum cylinder structure, and adding an acrylonitrile-butadiene rubber (NBR) coating around the grating, a CFBG hydrophone is proposed. The underwater experiments show that the designed hydrophone responds via shifting its central wavelength of 4.5 pm to 113 Hz sound excitation and 8 pm to fish vocalizations during feeding. The designed sensor shows clear performance at higher order frequencies while the spectrogram of the reference hydrophone lacks clarity at certain times.
