Privacy enhancement in health monitoring systems

Privacy enhancement in health monitoring systems

Abstract:

Remote health monitoring systems help in improving the quality of care and offer a solution. However, different sensitive data such as physiological data and personal information are transmitted between the patient and the Health specialist. This sensitive information sharing can be done through virtual private networks (VPN). These networks ensure confidentiality and authenticity of exchanged data. However, VPN are sometimes victims of denial of service and identity theft attacks [6]. The aim of this article is to enhance the privacy in VPN used in health monitoring systems. This paper proposes new network architecture to strengthen Safety level of exchanged data and detect different intrusions in virtual private networks. This architecture is based on the implementation of a security system in the virtual private networks. This Security system consists of a firewall, for control of different traffic, protocols and applications used in the network, combined with a prevention system Snort inline for intrusion prevention of various attempts intrusion and identity theft.
